Etiquette:
- Be Respectful of Private Property - Only enter gardens or yards that are clearly open for the tour. Do not touch plants or decorations, and avoid blocking walkways or entrances.
- Be Prepared - Bring everything you need: easel, chair, water, snacks, and weather-appropriate clothing. DSA will be available for a restroom.
- Keep a Small Footprint - Use compact setups and keep supplies tidy. Avoid spreading materials over large areas that could disrupt the flow of foot traffic.
- Engage Kindly With Visitors - Guests may stop to chat—feel free to talk briefly, but let them know you're focusing if needed. A simple sign like “Feel free to observe while I paint!” can set expectations.
- Respect Homeowners and Volunteers - Remember you’re a guest in the neighborhood. Be polite, thank hosts, and follow any specific instructions from organizers.
- Pack Out What You Pack In - Leave no trace—take all trash, leftover materials, and gear with you.
- Photos - Ask before photographing private gardens or people.
About the Garden Tour:
Join us for the 2025 Garden Tour & Tea Garden! The St. Anne's Hill Historic Home and Garden Tour is a biennial event that invites you to spend a leisurely afternoon experiencing our neighborhood's many historical residences and urban gardens. Enjoy a self-guided tour on Saturday, June 14th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Start by checking in at 48 High Street, Dayton Society of Artists gallery, to receive your map, then spend a few hours (or the entire day!) in our lovely neighborhood!
In addition to the homes and gardens, your ticket serves as your entry to our Tea Garden, featuring a complimentary selection of drinks and light refreshments. One of Dayton's many inner city historic neighborhoods, St. Anne's Hill Historic District - Dayton, Ohio offers a variety of architectural styles such as Federal, Second Empire, Gothic, Eastlake and Queen Anne. In addition to the homes and gardens on display there are neighborhood parks and traffic circles.
Discover new activities at our local parks! Create your own beautiful flower bouquet with fresh blooms from Dayton's own Backlot Buds urban flower farm, or add some color to the landscape at our garden rock painting station. This event also connects you with The Victory Project, a local organization established in 2007 that provides vital after-school programs, meals, and entrepreneurship opportunities (via Victory Project Landscaping) for at-risk youth. Part of the event proceeds will go towards supporting their impactful work in our community.
