Artist Talk: Terry Welker, FAIA
Sunday, July 19, 2026 | 1:00–2:30 PM
Location: Dayton Society of Artists
Admission: Free and open to the public

Join us for an artist talk with Terry Welker, FAIA, in conjunction with his solo exhibition, Tangled Up In Blue: Messages & Images to Our Future Selves.
During this engaging presentation, Welker will discuss the ideas, influences, and creative process behind his recent body of work, exploring themes of memory, reflection, and the expressive possibilities of the color blue. Drawing from his background as an architect, artist, and educator, he will share how sketchbooks, drawing, sculpture, and decades of creative practice have shaped his multidisciplinary approach.
In addition to the artist talk, Welker will lead a discussion of the materials and techniques used throughout the exhibition, followed by a live technical demonstration that offers insight into his working process. The program will conclude with an audience Q&A, giving visitors the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the artist.
Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the exhibition's interactive Teleportation Station, where visitors are invited to leave handwritten messages to their future selves. As these contributions accumulate throughout the exhibition, they become part of a collective installation reflecting shared hopes, memories, and aspirations.
This free event offers a unique opportunity to experience Tangled Up In Blue: Messages & Images to Our Future Selves while gaining deeper insight into Terry Welker's artistic practice through conversation, demonstration, and discussion.
