Bio

Raymond Lewkowicz was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1930 but grew up in Manhattan, New York City. His interest in art began as a teenager, inspired by the paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, to which I could walk from his neighborhood Yorkville, on the East Side.

His art training consisted of correspondence courses, painting courses at Wright State University, and sessions at the High Street Gallery. He holds a Ph.D in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, and was a professor of mathematics at Wright State University, now Emeritus. He was a past president of the Dayton Society of Artists and has been a long time member.
